Speed reading is like a race track. Each time around the track you hope to improve your time. Every second counts, better the driver, better the time.

Your the driver in the speed read 500, your in control. Put on your helmet and Seat belt, your about to read faster by 200%, and if your really in control 400%!

IN order to race ahead, you must first retrain your eye's to look at information, instead of reading from left to right. Here are a few simply ways to retrain yourself.

LAP #1 Taking the page in hand quickly glance at the whole page. Make your eyes take everything in as if focusing on the road ahead for 5 seconds before the race starts. (Do not read the page, simply glance at the page). Put down article, did you retain any information? Probably not.

LAP #2 Now, take the page in hand, and glance over each paragraph as fast as you can, as if revving your motor ready to go. This should take 5 seconds or so for the entire page. (Do not read). Put down article, did you retain any information? Maybe a little, as your eyes went to keywords..

LAP #3 Your off to the races! Take a piece of paper or your finger and quickly move the paper or finger down the center of each line. Glance at the center of each line (not reading from left to right). Look at the line, and move your finger down to the next line and repeat, as fast as you can! Put down article, did you retain any information? Probably a fair bit.

LAP #4 Now test yourself. Try a different article, reading it, by simply glancing down line by line, using your finger/paper as the center of your focus. Move the paper/finger as soon as you have 'seen' the line. How much did your brain absorb of the new article?

Drivers practice to get those extra few seconds, are you willing to improve your point standings? If so, practice these steps a few times, on new articles, and you will improve even more. Remember the focus on training your eye's to view a line, instead of reading from left to right.

After a few times around the track you will get the feel of it and your control will get faster and better than any you could of imagined. Wouldn't't it be nice to read books on racing in minutes and have the time to read anything, anytime, anywhere.
