Super Heroes We're Not!
Superman, Superwoman, Six million dollar man. What we wouldn't give to have those super powers and unlimited qualities for whatever task lays in front of us. The truth is, we remain human. Being human has limited qualifications but expectations of others and ourselves remain unlimited.
The realization of these qualities is where most of us go wrong. We all like to think we can do anything. Let's face it, we grew up with the 'little train that could' and 'You can do it, yes you can'! But as an adult, we should come to the conclusion that this is not always true. It takes a big person to admit their faults and failures. It also takes an even bigger person to admit that another human would better fort the task.
In the business world, this realization can do wonders to increase every aspect of the corporation. We need to respect that over-loading employees and hiring the wrong people for each task in the long run is a disadvantage. Saving money by hiring staff with fewer qualifications than necessary costs more in training and time. Especially for time, which we all know, is money in hand. Also, depending on the task, can cause the loss of clients and future prospects.
The even worse scenario is the employee hired as 'Jack of all trades'. Not having enough staff has to be one of the worst. Employees with multi-tasks are placed in a position of never feeling a completion of goals or anything. A lost sheep in a work place gives nothing back to the corporation. Why should they? There's no respect for them so why should they respect the corporation? Pride of where a person works can bring in a lot more business than one in for the long ride alone.
Employees too have the responsibility to 'say no' when they have enough on their plates and should feel free to have this option.
We've all stood in cashier lines wishing to be able to fly or make the line disappear. But alas, 'super heroes we're not'!
