| Target Shooting Anyone? You've got a target to shoot for but no way to hit the target. A target being, for example, an increase in sales or dollar amount or more productivity.
Everyone has targets whether in dreams, work, home or play. Those that are successful don't miss the target, they achieve a bull's-eye. How do they do it we all ask? The answer is "Creative Brainstorming".
Creative Brainstorming is an increased awareness of how to achieve your single target. For instance, your single target may be to increase sales by $100,000.
On a piece of paper, you would write down your single target. Then you write down underneath everyway possible (that you can think of) to achieve it. This can be done alone, as a staff or a family project. Once all the ideas (shots) are written, you pick the best five attainable ideas (shots). For example:
| SINGLE TARGET: 100,000 |
| Shot 1 |
advertising campaign |
| Shot 2 |
track goals |
| Shot 3 |
hire 2 new sales people |
| Shot 4 |
create partnership |
| Shot 5 |
create 'internet' presence |
The idea of this main single target is to break it down to more easily acquired shots. The breakdown must be attainable projects. Some people also put time limits such as; How long to advertise etc. Or as a review period to check shots or if need be, change a shot.
This idea also brings a unity in the office. Everyone becomes conscious of what the other is doing instead of shooting blanks. All involved are striving for the bull's-eye. Yet their own personal skills are left to attain their own best at whatever area skills they possess, (someone in sales, another in advertising). In this method you are putting each persons qualifications forward and giving each a sense of pride, freedom, choice.
A happier shooting gallery attains more targets and less practice. So 'target shooting anyone'?
