Who’s Dominique Bourgoin? Every team needs energy players. Those who carry their weight on the field, but also add an element of surprise and excitement off the field. When times are down, energy players rise and take the lead. When times are up, energy players maintain the momentum.
Dominique is Dovico’s top energy player.
As Dovico’s user-experience and interface designer, Dominique is one of the few people that I know who are genuinely made for the career they have chosen. User-experience and interface design require a keen eye for understanding how people use a product.
It’s one thing to make something work; it’s another to make it work well and look good doing it. Dominique has that rare ability to combine style with functionality to perfection.
Motivated by curiosity
Naturally curious, she grew up visually learning how things work. One of her favourite TV shows, when she was a kid, was “Découverte,” a show about discovery.
Her keen eye for visualization and design stemmed from her parent’s encouragement to draw when she was little. While she didn’t mind drawing, she always preferred colouring. The mixtures and blends of colour palettes always inspired her.
Dominique is a very visual person. She admits that she is not much of a reader, but learns most from observation. This hands-on approach to learning life lends so well to the fact that she has a great photographic memory. Dominique can recall stories from her early childhood as if they happened yesterday.
Can you remember what you wore on the first day of school in grade 6? No? Dominique can!
Mental health advocate
One of the things that I admire most about Dominque is her recognition of mental health in herself and others. Throughout her life, she’s experienced deep bouts of anxiety and depression. Accepting that this is not a limitation, Dominique works on her thoughts every day and finds healthy outlets in which to express them. One of her stress busters is gaming.
Dominique is a big fan of the Zelda series and any role-playing game (RPG), which engages her imagination and thought. While retro gaming is her thing, she doesn’t enjoy shooter games because of the “on-guard” stress that they bring.
Always a team player
As a kid, Dominique was very active. Aside from her very active imagination, she loved playing soccer. Being apart of a team, outside and running the field, gave Dominique an outlet.
While she never cared to score goals like so many kids her age did, she enjoyed setting up others to score goals. Being the team MVP wasn’t her purpose. Being recognized for team spirit and winning as a complete team was much more rewarding to her.
Long story short, Dominique is a tremendously observant and talented human being. With her vivid storytelling from her visual memory bank to her love of animals, nature and good vibes, I could write an entire book on Dominique.
Her incredible talents and selfless desire to help others achieve so the team delivers as a whole is what makes her such a valuable piece to the Dovico puzzle. We would be incomplete without her… and a lot less energetic!
